Course Summary

The goal of this course is to help Qualified Individuals (QI) and others involved in the Independent Assessment (IA) process to understand the protocol for Family First Independent Assessments.


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. State the value of the Family First Independent Assessment (IA) approach to child and youth preventive services.
  2. Explain the role of the Qualified Individual (QI) within the IA process.
  3. Describe the overall process and timeline of a Family First IA.
  4. Describe the components of an Independent Assessment and how to complete each part.
  5. Recall best practices for conducting Independent Assessments in Colorado.
  6. List cultural and linguistic considerations for an equitable IA process.


Learning Audience

This course is intended primarily for behavioral health practitioners engaged as Qualified Individuals (QI) who conduct Independent Assessments (IA) of youth following Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) requirements.
