Course Summary
This course aids learners in writing robust assessments that accurately and holistically capture a client's strengths and needs while incorporating historical information and current presentation in a culturally, linguistically, and trauma-informed manner.
Although the focus is on adolescent clients, most of the training is relevant to younger children as well as adult clients.
Topics covered include elements of a comprehensive assessment, interview skills, adolescent developmental characteristics, addressing trauma, responding to cultural and linguistic needs, strategies for honoring the youth and family, clinical case conceptualization and diagnosis, and developing appropriate recommendations.
Attention is placed throughout to a conscious mindset of diversity, equity, inclusion, and sensitivity to the unique circumstances of each adolescent and family.

This training is aimed at professionals who have experience working with children and youth, hold a master's or doctorate degree in a mental health field, are either licensed or working under a licensed supervisor, have experience conducting assessments, and have some background in trauma-responsive practices.
