Foundational Concepts: Individuals with a History of Aggression

Course Summary

This course provides an overview of the lived experience of individuals with a history of aggression and methods for improving their experience and outcomes in behavioral health care spaces. Specific topics in this learning module include aggression in childhood and adolescence, safety and personal risk considerations for providers.


Learning Objectives

Upon completing this material, learners will be able to:

1. Differentiate between risk factors for violence and physical warning signs of violence

2. Identify structured tools that could help with screening for violence risk



Learning Audience

This asynchronous course is designed for behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.


American Psychological Association Continuing Education (APA CE) Credits

This course is eligible for Continued Education Units (CEU) upon completion, which are awarded as follows:

  • Course Duration: 60 minutes
  • APA CE Credit Awarded: 1 CE credit
