Course Summary

This course covers the physiological and psychological effects of brain injury on mental health, including common emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes. It informs the learner about the prevalence of brain injury in Colorado, how to recognize signs and symptoms, and outline connect to common co-occurring conditions and comorbidities.

 


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Identify and differentiate between the various types of brain injuries
  2. Analyze the relationship between brain injury and mental health
  3. Categorize the range of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral alterations that may arise following brain injuries
  4. Recognize the impact of brain injury on emotional regulation, cognitive functioning, and behavioral patterns

 


Learning Audience

The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.
