Course Summary

This course explores how skills deficits can impact therapeutic interventions and provides effective communication strategies when working with individuals with brain injury and mental health issues. And identifies evidence-based interventions for managing mental health conditions commonly associated with brain injury.


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Apply effective communication strategies when working with individuals with brain injury and mental health issues, including the use of nonverbal cues and active listening techniques
  2. Identify and evaluate evidence-based interventions for managing mental health conditions commonly associated with brain injury, including mood disorders, anxiety, and cognitive impairment
  3. Develop strategies for supporting individuals with brain injuries in coping with and adapting to the psychological challenges they may encounter, emphasizing evidence-based interventions and person-centered approaches to promote resilience and recovery.


Learning Audience

The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.
