Brain Injury Essentials III: Screening and Identification

Course Summary

This course describes the importance of screening for brain injury to better understand the severity and impact it has on behavioral health treatment and to better select strategies which can help adapt to these deficits. It includes several common screening tool and tips about how to increase their efficacy with this populations and apply the results.

 


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Develop effective strategies for assessing and evaluating the impact brain injuries have on individuals to better adapt how you approach their mental health concerns
  2. Recognize the impact of cultural and social factors on the experience and identification of brain injuries and develop culturally sensitive and responsive approaches to care
  3. Identify strategies for conducting comprehensive health history interviews to elicit accurate and detailed information, ensuring a credible assessment of the injury's history


Learning Audience

The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.
