Course Summary

The CDC reports that 1 in 4 adults in Colorado have some type of disability and face a range of barriers when it comes to receiving adequate healthcare. This course is designed to provide you with insights, strategies, and tools (e.g., disability-competent care assessment tool) to provide disability-competent health support to people experiencing a physical disability.


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the barriers to support, including attitudinal, physical access, and communication access for persons with physical disabilities.
  2. Determine ways to ensure people with physical disabilities receive the highest standard of care during primary care visits.
  3. Apply disability-competent care when working with individuals with physical disabilities.
