Course Summary
This course explores the behavioral health of Black and African Americans. It's specifically designed for behavioral health professionals who want to better understand the historical trauma and present-day discrimination that still affect the health outcomes of this population. Additionally, the course will help develop your cultural responsiveness when interacting with Black and African Americans.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Delineate the diversity and individuality of the group identified as Black and African Americans.
- Identify how systemic racism impacts the health of Black & African Americans.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness during interactions with Black and African American clients.
Learning Audience
The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.
