This course will provide you with the knowledge, insights, and practical tools necessary to navigate the nuances of Hispanic and Latin American cultures within the U.S. context. Through a lens of cultural humility, we will delve into effective communication strategies, examine potential biases, and foster inclusive practices that promote mutual respect and understanding.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Integrate knowledge about the diversity and individuality of the group identified as Hispanic, Latin American, Latino/a, Latinx/e when considering Hispanic and Latin American individuals and communities.
- Reflect on the mental health status of Hispanic and Latin American individuals in Colorado to inform your interaction with clients.
- Utilize knowledge of how root causes of racial health disparities impact Hispanic & Latin Americans.
- Demonstrate strategies for culturally appropriate interactions with Hispanic & Latin American patients and clients.
Learning Audience
The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.
