Course Summary
This course will explore the prevalence of suicide and suicide risk in rural Colorado. Participants will explore both strengths and challenges faced by rural communities, nuances between rural communities in different geographical locations and cultural considerations. We will then explore best practices for prevention and treatment, and how to adapt practice to the community. Finally, participants will gain knowledge on when to refer clients to additional resources. By the end of the course, learners will be able to assess suicide risk in rural clients, apply prevention strategies tailored to rural communities, and make informed decisions about referrals and case consultation.
