Course Summary
By taking this course, the learner will gain a better understanding of the complexities involved in assessing, screening, and treating suicidal ideation, the challenges individuals with suicidal ideation face, common stigma and biases, and how to best prevent suicide according to evidence-based treatment and best practices.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify warning signs, common risk factors, and common protective factors for suicide.
- List evidence-based assessments and screening tools used to identify suicide risk.
- Utilize common suicide prevention strategies and interventions to reduce suicide risk and attempts.
Learning Audience
The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.
Continuing Education Credits
This course is eligible for Continued Education Units (CEU) upon completion, which are awarded as follows:
