Course Summary
This course presents behavioral health providers with knowledge of the challenges, adaptations, and strategies for best practices when using telebehavioral health with people in rural settings. Telebehavioral Health services are an emerging modality for providing behavioral health care that significantly benefits the treated population. This course will explain how these benefits are particularly salient among America’s rural population. You will learn that people living in rural areas are great candidates for telebehavioral health (TBH) in certain circumstances. There are some instances where TBH is not a good fit as well. You will learn how virtual modalities can allow people in rural settings to access healthcare that might not otherwise be easily accessible to them.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Integrate knowledge of the benefits, limitations, considerations, and mental health status of Coloradans living in rural settings to inform your interaction with clients.
- Demonstrate a language and culturally centered approach when providing telebehavioral health for people living in rural settings.
- Create an action plan for treating people living in rural settings through telebehavioral health.
Learning Audience
The learners for this training are behavioral health service providers, social workers, counselors, peer support specialists, and other professionals who support individuals with substance use and behavioral health conditions.

This course is eligible for Continued Education Units (CEU) upon completion, which are awarded as follows:
