Course Summary

An overview of working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including evidence-based practices, fundamental building blocks to deliver effective services and efforts the state is making to enhance access.


Learning Objectives

Upon completing this material, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify how state policy changes are aimed at supporting providers in building capacity and improving access to deliver ​robust behavioral health services for individuals with co-occurring disabilities and identify needed organizational changes to minimize barriers to access.
  2. Identify principles, lessons learned and fundamental components of building effective behavioral health services for co-occurring behavioral health and intellectual and developmental disabilities within a behavioral health organization.
  3. Summarize how​ a national provider is delivering effective behavioral healthcare including evidence-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and begin to apply the steps needed to build readiness and capacity within their own organizations to improve the quality of care for co-occurring conditions.
  4. Gain awareness of evidence based practice and potential innovations in the co-occurring provider environment.
