Women's Health Across the Lifespan: Supporting Postpartum and Midlife Transitions

Course Summary

Participants will be able to explain, recognize, and understand evidence-based approaches to women's behavioral health across perimenopause, menopause, and hormonal transitions. The course explores the physical, emotional, and social dynamics that shape women's mental health in hormonal transitions and equips practitioners with practical frameworks for delivering responsive, informed care.


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the symptoms and behavioral health impacts of perimenopause and menopause.
  2. Recognize how hormonal transitions may intersect with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and other mental health conditions.
  3. Understand family, culture, and community contexts in supporting women’s health.
  4. Understand treatment options and supports for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

 


Learning Audience

Primarily intended for registered nurses practicing in rural and frontier settings; also appropriate for other healthcare professionals such as physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, first responders, addiction counselors, medical office staff, and itinerant providers.


Continuing Education Credits

This course is eligible for Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) credit upon completion, which are awarded as follows: 

  • 1 NCPD credit awarded per (1) hour of completed learning
